Born in Doma, Yotsuyu was "raised" by her step-parents alongside her cousin, Asahi. She was forced to work extra hard in order to pay for his schooling and was eventually married to a man old enough to be her father who was an alcoholic. He died and she was sold by her step-father into a courtesan house under another master.

It was there that she seemed lifeless, more like a doll. It was also there that she began to spy for the Garlean empire, eventually turning against Doma completely in her hatred. She then spends the rest of her life hating her fellow Domans for ignoring what was done to her, and focusing on her revenge and cruelty towards every last Doman.
